Lecture recording → Quiz

Turn a lecture into a quiz

Listening to a lecture feels like learning; answering questions about it shows whether you did. Memo turns the recording into a quiz on what was actually said, so you find the gaps while there is still time.

Which system processes day-to-day transactions?

The real app, with a sample lecture. Yours shows your own material.

How it works

  1. Press Record a lecture when the lecture starts and leave your phone on the desk, or upload a recording you made with any voice recorder.
  2. Memo writes a full transcript first, in the language the lecture was in, so nothing the lecturer said is lost.
  3. Open the Quiz tab and Memo writes a multiple-choice quiz covering the material from start to finish.
  4. Take the quiz without looking at the notes, then reread the parts behind the questions you got wrong.

What you get

  • Multiple-choice questions written from your own material
  • The right answer shown after every question
  • A score at the end, so you know how ready you are
  • Quizzes you can print

Tips for the best result

  • Take the quiz the day after the lecture, before rereading anything. The questions you miss tell you what to read.
  • Retake the quiz a week later. If the score holds, the lecture has stuck.
  • Before an exam, run the quizzes of every lecture in the course in a row: it is the quickest way to find weak spots across the whole subject.

What you can upload

Record the lecture in Memo on your phone or computer, or upload a recording you already have: mp3, m4a, wav, aac, ogg, opus, flac, webm and more, up to three hours long.

Sit where the lecturer can be heard clearly. A recording made at the back of a loud hall still works, but questions from the audience may come out incomplete.

Questions

How many questions does a quiz have?

Enough to cover the lecture from start to finish. A longer lecture gets more questions.

Can I record a lecture with the screen off?

Keep the screen on while Memo records in your browser. If you would rather lock your phone, record with its voice recorder app and upload the file afterwards: the result is the same.

Do I still get the transcript?

Yes. Every recording keeps its full transcript next to the notes, so you can check exactly what was said.

Are the questions about my material or general knowledge?

About your material. Every question comes from what you uploaded, so it checks what your exam will ask.

Try it on your own material.
