Lecture recording → Notes

Turn a lecture into notes

Writing everything down means you stop listening. Record the lecture in Memo instead and get the transcript and organised notes a few minutes after it ends, so in the lecture itself you can just follow.

IS lecture – week 4

29/08/2026, Audio, 48 min

Quick overview

Business information systems collect and process the information that supports decision-making in companies.

Key takeaway: Without good data, even the best system will not produce good decisions.

Types of system

  • Transactional – captures the day-to-day business events.
  • Decision support – analysis and scenarios for management.
  • ERP – ties the processes into one data model.
The real app, with a sample lecture. Yours shows your own material.

How it works

  1. Press Record a lecture when the lecture starts and leave your phone on the desk, or upload a recording you made with any voice recorder.
  2. Memo writes a full transcript first, in the language the lecture was in, so nothing the lecturer said is lost.
  3. In a few minutes you have notes organised by topic, written in the language of your material.
  4. Read the notes once, then switch to flashcards or the quiz on the same note to check what stayed.

What you get

  • Structured notes with headings, the key ideas marked and the definitions spelled out
  • Explanations where the material only hints at something
  • The full transcript, for anything that was recorded
  • Notes you can read aloud, print, or ask questions about in the chat

Tips for the best result

  • Start recording a minute before the lecture begins: the opening is often where the lecturer says what the exam will cover.
  • If the lecturer shares slides, upload them as a second note. The two together cover what was said and what was shown.
  • Read the notes the same evening. A first pass while you still remember the lecture fixes more than a week of rereading later.

What you can upload

Record the lecture in Memo on your phone or computer, or upload a recording you already have: mp3, m4a, wav, aac, ogg, opus, flac, webm and more, up to three hours long.

Sit where the lecturer can be heard clearly. A recording made at the back of a loud hall still works, but questions from the audience may come out incomplete.

Questions

How long does an hour-long lecture take?

Usually a few minutes for the transcript and the notes. Flashcards, a quiz and a test are made from the note when you open them.

Is it allowed to record lectures?

That depends on your school and your lecturer. Many allow recording for personal study; ask if you are not sure.

Can I record a lecture with the screen off?

Keep the screen on while Memo records in your browser. If you would rather lock your phone, record with its voice recorder app and upload the file afterwards: the result is the same.

Do I still get the transcript?

Yes. Every recording keeps its full transcript next to the notes, so you can check exactly what was said.

Are the notes a summary or the whole thing?

They cover the whole material, organised and explained, not a few lines about it. The point is that you can learn from the notes alone.

Try it on your own material.

Upload a lecture, a PDF or your slides and get notes, flashcards and a quiz in a few minutes.
